Several themes are being pursued:
- The neural substrates of unilingual and bilingual speech processing
- Cross-linguistic studies of tone perception
- Articulatory processes involved in speaking native and second languages
- Investigation of the neural substrates of language in patients with typical and atypical patterns of hemispheric dominance for language and with different types of brain lesions
- Cross-validation studies of fMRI and PET for language tasks in normal volunteer subjects and patients
