Current Research Interests

Several themes are being pursued:

  • The neural substrates of unilingual and bilingual speech processing
  • Cross-linguistic studies of tone perception
  • Articulatory processes involved in speaking native and second languages
  • Investigation of the neural substrates of language in patients with typical and atypical patterns of hemispheric dominance for language and with different types of brain lesions
  • Cross-validation studies of fMRI and PET for language tasks in normal volunteer subjects and patients
